COCSA and Alternative Medicine Integration Initiative

COCSA is proud to to endorse Alternative Medicine Integration Group (AMI) of Highland Park, Illinois and its outcome measurement based approach to chiropractic care management. COCSA believes that this represents the methodology best suited to facilitating the health and well-being of chiropractic patients by its fair and objective evaluation of doctors of chiropractic that supports the value-based purchasing of chiropractic care for health care payers.

By publicly acknowledging AMI’s focus on reducing costs through measuring outcomes and improving quality, COCSA is sending a strong message on behalf of the chiropractic profession and its members that “business as usual” as conducted by all other chiropractic management companies operating in the health care market, is no longer acceptable.

By working as the solution between both payers and providers, AMI’s use of sound clinical condition-specific criteria, validated assessment tools, real-time patient and provider data and outcome statistics has successfully demonstrated that chiropractic care is most appropriate, effective and affordable when measured from the perspective of patient outcomes, and not from the narrow and outdated payer versus provider perspective of visit and/or dollar limitations. Recognizing that the “business as usual” chiropractic benefit management strategies currently in use by the majority of insurance companies and managed care organizations are failed models counterproductive to quality chiropractic care, the COCSA board is thrilled to be partnering with AMI. The old way of managing chiropractic care is simply not working; we need a new, patient-centered approach to achieve a new and better outcome for everyone involved. This joint venture is a win-win relationship for the chiropractic profession, as it will raise awareness of the benefits of AMI’s innovative approach to solve the widespread problems experienced by our state members and the health care market at large, while providing doctors of chiropractic with a more positive outlook and a scientifically solid platform for the future of chiropractic.

COCSA will work closely with our member states and AMI to facilitate maximum benefit of “A New Outcome” for all concerned.
